Sermon - 6/12/2010
"Study of Revelation"
Two sides developed, right before Jesus comes there is going to be a great battle…Armageddon
Which side am I going to be on? Which side are you going to be on?
John wrote Revelation. He also wrote the book of John and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John
The book of 1st John informs us about the true Christian experience and how to make our calling and election sure.
I want to focus on what is in the Christian…what makes the Christian “tick.”
As we read each chapter, consider what is “in” the believer. This is what makes the Christian “tick.”
Chapter 1
1 John 1:8 (New King James Version)
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 1:10 (New King James Version)
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
Chapter 2
1 John 2:4 (New King James Version)
4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1 John 2:8 (New King James Version)
8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.
1 John 2:14 (New King James Version)
14 I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.
1 John 2:15 (New King James Version)
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 2:24 (New King James Version)
24 Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.
1 John 2:27 (New King James Version)
27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
John 14:26 (New King James Version)
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
Joh 14:26
Chapter 3
1 John 3:3 (New King James Version)
3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. (to be like him)
1 John 3:9 (New King James Version)
9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
1 John 3:15 (New King James Version)
15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
1 John 3:17 (New King James Version)
17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
1 John 3:24 (New King James Version)
24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
Chapter 4
1 John 4:4 (New King James Version)
4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
1 John 4:6 (New King James Version)
6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
1 John 4:7 (New King James Version)
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
1 John 4:9 (New King James Version)
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
1 John 4:12 (New King James Version)
12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.
1 John 4:13 (New King James Version)
13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
1 John 4:16 (New King James Version)
16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
Chapter 5
1 John 5:4 (New King James Version)
4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
1 John 5:10 (New King James Version)
10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. (Rom 8:16)
1 John 5:12 (New King James Version)
12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:19 (New King James Version)
19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. (Rom 5:5)
We are nearing the end of our wilderness wandering. God is about to take us into the promised land. Let us avail ourselves of the provisions God so willingly gives so that we can make an abundant entry into His kingdom. We shall be like Him.
1 Jo 3:2.
AMEN.
