Sidney explained how God was patient with people, warned them of the coming destruction, and provided a way out. Sidney gave examples of the flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, and the destruction of the Canaanites. He spoke in reference to Rev 14:9 which details the destruction of the wicked at the second coming (3rd angel’s message). He reasoned: sin must be dealt with, God has provided the warning, and Jesus is the way out. With regard to God’s patience and forbearance, He spared the city of Zoar, just for the sake of 1 person, Lot, when Sodom was destroyed.
